The Kick In the Cast – Episode 2

Holy crap! I’m not dead.

Far from it, actually. While life has definitely thrown me around a fair bit lately, I’m back on my feet and I’ve been working on the long-promised re-write to ‘Outcast.’ The writing and editing parts are finished, and the recordings are finally sounding good to my ears.

I’ve also started a new show: The Kick In the Cast, which is actually an old podcast I used to do when I first got started. Moving forward, that’s where any new content will be posted, but for now, I’ll be cross-posting episodes of KITC on this feed as well.

Episode 2 of KITC is where I’ve begun posting the remastered version of ‘Outcast.’ I’ll be running episodes weekly until the end of the book, by which time I’ll have the sequel ready to go. Part of the new show is keeping everyone up to date on my progress.

If you’d like to subscribe to the new show, you can do so at http://feeds.feedburner.com/kickinthecast

Chapter 24 – The End

Dalan tries to deal with the aftermath of Te’Ki’s departure and death, as well as the knowledge that the Rondoki most likely possess the Ka’al P’ack. He finally realizes the only viable option left for him to finally attain some peace in his life:

Go through the Rondoki Clan…no matter the cost.

Chapter 22

The aftermath of Dalan’s intervention prompts an encounter with his Grandfather, at which point the young tiger relates his and Te’Ki’s suspicion about the Ka’al P’ack’s fate. Dalan also learns what price he may have to pay in order to not only regain his honor, but also to save his family.

His internal conflict doesn’t escape Te’Ki’s eye, who finally takes matters into her own hands to set her beloved tiger back on the right path…and begin a path of her own.

Chapter 21

Autumn is in the air, and as Dalan’s thoughts turn back toward resuming his schooling under his new identity, he still wrestles with his feelings about how to deal with the suspected reasons behind his exile.

His thoughts are interrupted though as he comes to the aid of someone from his past…and comes far too close to being discovered.

Chapter 20

Dalan struggles with his conflicting thoughts. While part of him wants justice against those who wronged him, the other part wants to carry on with his plan to take he and Te’Ki away from Bengalis at first opportunity.

An incident during his duties at the docks drives him closer to one of those decisions.

Chapter 19

A potential bomb threat shuts down all operations at the docks, and Dalan is tasked to help locate it. As he investigates with his assigned team, he learns a bit more that pushes him to begin asking the hard questions about his exile.

However, when he returns home and begins his investigation, the truth that’s revealed proves to be a bit more than even he can deal with…

Chapter 18

Things have settled down once more between Dalan and Te’Ki. Dalan begins to feel more comfortable in his life both as an exile hiding in plain sight, and as Khrasa’s student.

Tomas and Dalan finally meet, and the white tiger begins hinting that his friend should start investigating the nature of his exile.

Chapter 17

Dalan’s internal conflict over what he did in that alley finally catches up with him, and in his frustration he awakens one of the aspects of training as a L’au Tari. Thinking this to be some kind of plot, he confronts his master and learns yet another hidden truth.

After, he is confronted by his Grandfather, who imparts a harsh life lesson on the young tiger, one that he’ll have to resolve on his own someday.
